Our story is one of resilience and adaptability. Following the 2008 housing market collapse, Susannah transformed properties that struggled to secure long-term renters into fully furnished short-term rentals. The strategic location of these condos, directly across from Shands UF Health Hospital, played a crucial role in this pivot.
Susannah then expanded into downtown Gainesville and the University of Florida area, diversifying home sizes and price points. In partnership with colleagues, she added two historic inns to the portfolio, creating unique event spaces, classes, and options for single-night stays.

Our Incredible Journey
The 2008 financial crisis significantly challenged the business. In 2010, Susannah rebuilt by furnishing and renting nine properties—growing to 30 and turning them into successful short-term rentals. The COVID-19 crisis brought another setback with statewide restrictions on short-term stays.
Rather than retreat, Susannah teamed up with Gators Ed Rodriguez and Gregg Gelber to reimagine Gainesville’s bed-and-breakfast scene—creating a local resource for visitors and temporary residents seeking an authentic Gainesville experience rather than just another place to stay.
